Case Study: Burger King and Microsoft Pop-Up Fixed Rig

Burger King teamed up with Microsoft to give a free Xbox Game Pass to customers who buy a King Box in its restaurants. To drive engagement and boost revenue, our client were tasked with producing a viral video to launch the campaign. They turned to WilkieTV to provide the hidden camera rig, and multi-camera edit on-site.

WilkieTV supplied the fixed-rig, audio-rig and outside broadcast vehicle to handle the multi-camera live shoot. The client required the ability to review footage on-site and deliver ISO recordings from each of the camera angles.

Equipment provided and installed by the team for the popup fixed-rig included:

  • A five camera multi-angle fixed-rig using HD hothead cameras
  • Wireless microphones for various staff working the front counter and drive-thru
  • An outside broadcast vehicle in the restaurant's carpark for the crew to operate, monitor and produce from
  • A comms system allowing producers to talk with the staff as they worked the counter
  • Additional specialist mini-cameras hidden around the counters and drive-thru areas to offer additional angles to the edit

One of the challenges facing the team included rigging a busy restaurant and working alongside members of the public. Care had to be taken to ensure customers who elected not to be featured were handled appropriately, and that the producers were able to monitor in real-time for the purposes of logging the stories as they unfolded.
